hansen-logoTwo days after holding its annual meeting, Hansen Medical had one of its directors resign, the company reported in a filing today with the SEC.

Thomas McConnell was not up for re-election to Hansen’s board, whose members serve staggered terms, and his was not set to expire until  2010. McConnell, 54, first became a member of Hansen’s board  in 2005.

No reason was cited for the resignation, and no boilerplate language accompanied the announcement to assure everyone that the resignation had nothing to do with the way the Hansen is being run.

McConnell has been a managing member of Vanguard Ventures since 2004, and before that was a general partner at New Enterprise Associates. He serves on the boards of two other local medical device companies: Asthmatx, a Sunnyvale developer of asthma treatment using radiofrequency energy to help restrict narrowing of a patient’s airway, and Dfine, a San Jose developer of injectable bone cement designed to heal fissures in patients’ spinal columns.
