mcafee_logoMcAfee, the Santa Clara supplier of security software, said its chief technology officer Christopher Bolin will retire from the company on June 30, after which he will continue as a non-employee advisor to the company through Sept. 30, 2010. Bolin is set to receive a lump-sum payment of $117,500 within 30 days of Sept. 30.

Bolin, 41, took a leave of absence “for personal reasons” from June 2 through September 8, 2008. His salary, which was raised from $450,000 in 2007 to $470,000 in 2008, was pro-rated to reflect his absence.

mcafee-bolin-imageBolin (pictured) joined McAfee in 1999 as director of engineering and was named vice president of engineering in 2000. He was made a senior vice president in 2002 and became the company’s chief technical officer and an executive vice president in 2004. In February 2008, Bolin was given $136,000 to compensate him for the decline in value of certain options he held that were re-priced higher after they were found to have been incorrectly priced at the time they were issued.
